I don’t know what it is about an over exposed retro style image that floats my boat. But it does. Somehow to me, LOMO is one of the best things to come out of Russia. Second perhaps only to Anna Kournikova and Lenny Kravitz (His dad was of russian jewish descent). The colors popped too much. The edges were dark. And the contrast was all over the place. But it always had a warm fuzzy feeling to it. It evoked memories. Memories of warm afternoons spent under a tree which smelt of home. Of shared candy and stifled giggles. Of innocence.
The interesting thing about LOMO is that every image was art in its own right. It may or may not be faithful to the original scene. But that didn’t matter. They were always beautiful. They were always retro.
I had to give it a try.
